Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk said today that his statement about his uncertain future at Anfield was taken out of context and that he remains committed to the club.
After Jurgen Klopp's announcement about leaving Liverpool at the end of the season, Van Dijk, when asked about his future in Liverpool, recently said that it is a difficult question and that he does not know the answer.
Now, in an interview with the German Sky, he wanted to clarify the statement.
"To be 100 percent clear, I am fully committed to this club, I love it, and so do its fans. It was completely taken out of context," Van Dijk said.
He reflected on the situation at the club after Klopp's announcement that he was leaving Liverpool at the end of the season.
"It was a shock for all of us who are connected with the club, I felt the same as the fans felt at that moment, but we have to move on. It will be strange that he will not be with us next season," said van Dijk.
Klopp announced last Friday that he was leaving Liverpool after nine years at the English club because he said he was running out of energy. He was previously the coach of Borussia Dortmund and Mainz.
