The coach of the women's football team of Montenegro, Mirko Marić, did not have much to complain about to his team after the defeat by Northern Ireland in the first match of the play-off for the UEFA Nations League B.
Our selection lost 2:0 at the stadium under Gorica, and fell in the last twenty minutes.
"The impression was spoiled by the second goal we conceded in stoppage time. We played the first half correctly, created a chance in the second minute, and had a dangerous counterattack... In the second half, it was clear that the Irish women were physically much better than us, they had the initiative, constantly played in our half and our goal was hanging in the air," said Marić.
The second leg is on Monday in Belfast.
"We have only four players whose championship is in progress, all the others came after 10-15 days of preparation period and this was to be expected. I congratulate the girls because they gave their best, the only regret remains about the goal in the 91st minute. I hope that we will "Be fighting and give your best in Belfast, we'll see how long it will be enough for," Marić pointed out.
