Bayern's young midfielder Aleksandar Pavlović will not make his debut for Germany in the friendly matches in March.
Pavlović fought for a place in the starting line-up of the Bavarians and could choose whether in the future he would play for "Elf" or the national team of Serbia, where he is from.
He chose the Germans, was on Julian Nagelsmann's list for the matches against France and the Netherlands, but dropped out due to health problems.
The guy born in Munich (his father is Serbian, his mother is German) was originally planned to play for the youth national team, but he received an invitation to the A team, because the Football Association of Serbia joined the fight for him...
"We have come to a situation where we should not and cannot be angry. It's his decision, and we tried everything," said Serbia coach Dragan Piksi Stojković.
Pavlović played 15 matches for Bayern this season and showed great talent.
"Since December, we have been in contact with the family, later his agent got involved, and then Aleksandar. I was ready to send him an invitation now in March, but according to the agreement we had, we left it to be resolved after the European Championship. And I respected that. I guess the pressure was too much and Nagelsman had to call him. When someone says that we lost Pavlović, I don't think that's true, because we didn't even have him," Stojković pointed out.
