The youth national team of Montenegro (U19) defeated Malta in the first of two friendly matches.
Goran Perišić's team won last night with a score of 3:1, despite the home team's initial lead. Nicolas Ajus gave Malta the lead in the 25th minute, only for Filip Perović to equalize in the 53rd.
The finish of the match was marked by Andrej Camaj, who shook Malta's net in the 77th and 89th minutes.
- Although it is planned that we will play this double match with a large number of new players, it is unacceptable that we play as badly, without ideas and without aggression as today's first half. In the second half, after two changes, we played the way we want to play. Even with the combined team, we scored three nice goals, could have done even more and improved the impression from the first part of the match. It remains for us to recover as well as possible and to repeat the edition from the second half in the second game and, of course, that all the invited players get a chance in order to see which of them we can count on in the coming period, said coach Perišić.
The same rivals will play another friendly match on Thursday, starting at 19:XNUMX.
And the cadet national team of Montenegro was defeated by Cyprus last night in a friendly match - 2:1.
"Falcons" were in the lead, but the host turned it around and celebrated a 2:1 victory.
- We played a very hard game, with a lot of strong duels and contact. I also think that our players are not used to this way of playing, and they certainly arrived here after a large number of games recently. In addition, we didn't take advantage of several situations, when we lacked the right pass in the end, we got a concrete performance. However, I hope that we will manage to recover and refresh ourselves for the second game, said coach Radovan Kavaja.
Our selection created the first chance, in the 15th minute Marko Glendža crossed, and Andrija Vukoje headed the ball past the goal. However, a minute later, Montenegro took the lead. This time, Mark Đokaj sent a cross, and Darvin Đukić shook the opponent's net.
The equalizer came soon, in the 18th minute, Elias Georgiou took advantage of the opportunity that presented itself to him.
Later on, Matija Jovanović had a chance, before Andreas Mavrudis beat Edin Lekić in the 57th minute.
By the end of the match, the Falcons threatened through Andrija Anđelić, who headed wide of the post after a good ball from Viktor Bubanja.
The second friendly duel between Cyprus and Montenegro will be played on Thursday, starting at 14 pm our time.
