Julian Nagelsman has extended his contract and will remain coach of the German national football team until 2026, the German Association announced.
Nagelsman was appointed coach of Germany in September of last year, and the contract was valid until the end of the upcoming European Championship. And after this extension, the young specialist will be the selector of the "elves" until the end of the World Cup, which will be held in the USA, Canada and Mexico in two years.
"It is a great honor to be the selector of the national team and to work with the best domestic players. The victories against the Netherlands and France in March really touched me. We want to have a successful European Championship and I am really looking forward to it with my coaching staff," said Nagelsman.
Germany is the host of the upcoming European Championship, and will play in a group with Scotland, Hungary and Switzerland.
"Nagelsman was the desire of many European clubs. By deciding to extend cooperation with the Federation, he sent a clear message. The national team is more than a job for Nagelsman. Now he can calmly concentrate on the European Championship," said the president of the German Federation, Bernd Neuendorf.
