Managing Bayern is usually an honor and a privilege for any coach.
However, this is not always the case.
Austrian coach Ralf Rangnik is the third in a series of coaches who refused the offer to sit on the bench of the Bavarian giant, 33-time champion of Germany, six-time champion of Europe.
Rangnik, former coach of Leipzig, Manchester United, Stuttgart, Schalke and numerous other clubs, one of the creators of the complete "Red Bull methodology", thanked a few days ago for the offer, announcing that he remains committed to the preparations for the upcoming European Championship, where he will lead the national team Austria.
And he is the third coach in a row to be rejected by Bayern.
Who are the first two? Xabi Alonso, a miracle worker with Bayer Leverkusen, whom he led to the first Bundesliga title in history, and is well on his way to winning the German Cup and the Europa League (all unbeaten this season, in 47 games), elegantly a few weeks ago rejected the Bavarian, extending his loyalty to his "pharmacists".
Bayern will have to wait.
After him, the German media claim, the previous coach of Bayern, Julian Nagelsmann, the current coach of Germany, also rejected the offer.
This call was a bit strange, because the new management of Bayern, i.e. its sports sector, seems to have decided to try to correct the mistake of their predecessors, Hasan Salihamidžić and Oliver Kan, who shockingly fired the 36-year-old coach at the end of last season. Although his successor, the current (and outgoing) coach Thomas Tuchel, happily won the title then, it is believed that Nagelsmann's dismissal was the beginning of all the problems.
The Bavarians have lost their primacy in Germany after 11 years, and while the hope that they can make up for it by winning the Champions League is still smoldering (in the first match of the semi-finals they played 2:2 with Real Madrid in Munich), Tuchel is counting down the last days on the bench because he has already agreed to a break at the end of the season.
The Bavarians need a coach, three have already rejected the offer, and time is running out.
Who is the next option?
The media claim - Roger Schmidt, German, 57-year-old coach of Benfica.
The former Red Bull of Salzburg, Peking Guan and PSV Eindhoven has already won 2022 trophies with the Lisbon "eagles", which he has been leading since 10, and has a contract until 2026.
Bayern would have to pay compensation, which amounts to 30 million euros. It shouldn't be a problem for the Bavarians, especially because even Benfica are not too happy with the season in which Sporting is pushing for the title.
That's why there is a possibility that Bayern can get him in another way, but he has to wait a little longer.
Is there time?
