Two weeks ago, Real Madrid practically ended the championship race with a victory over Barcelona, and today the trophy was "handed" to them by Girona, a team that was the leader of La Liga not so long ago and is the absolute hit of the season in Spain.
It was known that the small Catalan club could hardly match the giants in the long run, and with four rounds to go, they did enough to put an end to the fight for the cup - if at all, after Carlo Ancelotti's team beat Barca at home on April 21 4:2.
Earlier today, the "Royal Club" was better than Cadiz 3:0, while Girona beat Barcelona 4:2 and took the second place in the table - that's how the end was put, Real secured the 36th title in history.
Barca took the lead in Girona in the 4th minute with a goal by Andreas Christensen, and already in the 5th minute Ukrainian Artjom Dovbik equalized.
It was just an announcement of excitement that must have been followed by Real fans, although for a long time it seemed that Barca was ready to, if nothing else, postpone the championship celebration of its biggest rival.
Robert Lewandowski restored the lead to the champions from the penalty spot before the break, and the hosts threw all their cards at the attack in the last twenty minutes and it paid off - twice for Porto and once for Miguel Gutiérrez made Girona better than the giants with "No" for the second time in the season camp".
And Atletico Madrid was better than Mallorca for the second time, again like in the first part of the season with 1:0.
Rodrigo Riquelme scored the goal for the three points that brought the "colćoneros" to the door of the Champions League in the 5th minute.
Montenegrin representative Stefan Savić entered the game in the 90th minute.
