Jose Mourinho has been without a job since January, ever since he was fired from Roma.
It is increasingly speculated that the Special One could quickly enter the selectors' waters, and he could have done it earlier if he had not refused to take over Portugal twice in the last two years.
The Portuguese saw Mourinho as the ideal successor to Fernando Santos after the World Cup in Qatar, and later promoted Roberto Martinez to coach.
"When we talk about which national team I would like to coach - it's Portugal and it's natural to be like that," said Mourinho, who adds:
"I refused twice because it was not the moment for such a step forward. The second time I did it because of Roma and the connection I had with the fans and the city. I gave in to my emotions and made a mistake," Mourinho said.
He has a desire for the future.
"If Portugal calls me one more time - I won't refuse," said the former coach of Porto, Chelsea, Inter, Real Madrid...
