The junior cadet football team of Montenegro was defeated yesterday by Turkey (3:2), in the first of two friendly matches in Kodžaeli.
Minja Ljumović's team played a good match, had the lead, but Turkey won with a goal in stoppage time.
There were no goals in the first half, and Petar Begović missed the best chance.
The continuation brought open play and chances on both sides. The home team took the lead in the 57th minute through Juzgeč, but Andrej Vučković equalized five minutes later.
The turnaround was seen in the 70th minute thanks to Luka Vušurović. It was a period of excellent play by the Falcons, however, Vušurović and Miloš Šekularac did not take advantage of the good opportunities. Turkey punished those mistakes and achieved victory through the double scorer of Emin Saraj. Saraj scored in the 77th and second minute of stoppage time.
"We entered the game with great respect for the Turkish team, which showed it on the field itself, where it was clear that they are a more than excellent national team. But in the first half, we were the ones who were closer to scoring, we constantly threatened the host , but we didn't manage to shake the net. In the second half we felt a little drop in our game, where we conceded a goal after that, but we still threatened the opponent's goal. All the efforts paid off when we turned it around. From that moment on, some strange refereeing decisions happened, and boys of this age should not experience such treatment," coach Ljumović said after the match.
The same rivals will play the return match on Wednesday (15:30).
"In the end, despite the defeat in this way, the boys showed exceptional potential in all segments of the game, where they played a more than excellent match, against such a quality opponent. We have the second match left, where we will have a lot of personnel changes, both because of the large expenditure in today's very demanding match, also due to the injuries of several football players", said coach Ljumović.
