In the period from 2008 to 2013, Montenegrin footballer Stevan Jovetić played for Fiorentina. After his career in Partizan, Jovetić decided to try himself in a stronger league, and the destination was Florence.
In the Viola jersey, the captain of the Brave Falcons played 135 games and scored 40 goals, before leaving Fiorentina for Manchester City in the summer of 2013.
After City, Jovetić played in Inter, Sevilla, Monaco and Hertha, becoming one of the few who played in the five strongest football championships, and then in September of last year he arrived at Olympiakos.
In 33 games for Athens, the Montenegrin forward scored eight goals, recorded four assists, and has the opportunity to end the season by winning the trophy, since Olympiakos will play in the final of the Conference League on May 29 at home, which is the first European final in the club's history. .
And the opponent is Fioretina. It will be an emotional evening for Jovetić.
"If I score a goal in the final against Fiorentina, I won't be happy. I love and respect Fiorentina too much to do that," said Jovetic in an interview with the Italian newspaper "Gazeta".
Jovetić revealed to Italian journalists the most beautiful moments during his stay in Florence. He recalled the 2009/2010 season. when he played with Fiorentina in the Champions League. "Viola" started that season in the qualifiers, and in the last round of the playoffs, they eliminated Lisbon's Sporting thanks to the greater number of goals scored away from home. It was in the second leg, in Florence, that Jovetić scored a goal worthy of placing in the elite.
"I had long hair and fantastic teammates. I remember the goal against Sporting, then everything changed. That goal allowed us to play in the Champions League. In that competition I remember the goals against Liverpool and then the game against Bayern in the round of 16. the match was not perfect. If the refereeing had been better, I'm sure we would have reached the final," Jovetić is convinced.
He is still in contact with some of his teammates from that period.
"There are Mutu, Frej, Kuzmanović and Seferović. I hear from them. I am also in contact with some people from the club," said Jovetić.
Olympiakos started this season in the Europa League, where they won third place in the group, so they continued the competition in the Conference League. In the knockout phase, the Athenians eliminated Ferencvaros. Maccabi from Tel Aviv, Fenerbahce and Aston Villa. There is one game left to go down in history, and that's in Athens, but at the AEK stadium.
"We have excellent individual quality, we are well organized, we have good fans. We will not play in our stadium, but we will have great support. The atmosphere will be as if we were playing on our field," says Jovetić.
The Montenegrin international has the opportunity to win the first European trophy in his career.
"Last season, my former teams, Manchester City, Inter, Fiorentina and Sevilla, played in the European finals. Now it's finally my turn. I'm happy, because this is my first European final in my career," concluded Jovetić.
