The selector of England's national football team, Gareth Southgate, said today that he will retire from the position of selector if England does not win the European Championship in Germany.
"If we don't win, I probably won't be here anymore. This could be the last chance," Southgate told German newspaper Bild.
Southgate saw England reach the semi-finals of the 2018 World Cup in Russia and the final of the 2021 European Championship.
"I think half the coaches leave after the tournament - that's the nature of international football," added Southgate.
The English media reports that Southgate could succeed Eric ten Haag on the Manchester United bench.
"I've been here for eight years. If we want to be a big team, and for me to be a big coach, then you have to get results in big moments," Southgate said.
At the European Championship, which starts on June 14, England will play in Group C with Serbia, Denmark and Slovenia, and the first match will be played on June 16 against Serbia.
