Đukanović: There are no words of comfort that can ease the pain of a young life tragically cut short
The former President of Montenegro, Milo Đukanović, sent a telegram of condolences on the death of Matija Šarkić to his family, his office announced.
"Dear Šarkic family,
I was deeply shaken by the news of the sudden and premature death of your son and brother Matija, a football player and exemplary young man.
There are no words of comfort that can ease the pain of a young life tragically cut short, nurtured in your honorable family with lots of love and unreserved support in all life's challenges.
Matija's talent, sports results and commitment to the national team, to which he had yet to give the most, remain a bright mark on the pride of the family, the sports community and the whole of Montenegro.
Please accept the expressions of sincere condolences," said Đukanović.
Spajić: Ten days ago we admired his defenses in Brussels and dreamed of great success
Prime Minister of Montenegro Milojko Spajić said that he received the news of the death of Matija Šarkić with great sadness.
"It was with great sadness that I received the news of the death of Matija Šarkić. Ten days ago we admired his defenses in Brussels and dreamed of great success in the future with Matija in goal. Condolences to the family, the football world is in shock, as is the whole of Montenegro," he wrote said Spajić in a post on the social network Iks.
Simonović: We will remember his energy, talent and contribution to football
President of the Montenegrin Olympic Committee, Dušan Simonović, said that Matija Šarkić was the embodiment of dedication and passion for football, and his nine appearances for the national team, including unforgettable defenses against Belgium, will remain etched in memory forever.
"It is with great sadness and disbelief that we received the news of Matija's premature departure. His death represents an irreparable loss for Montenegrin sports, his family, friends, teammates and everyone who knew him," Simonović added.
He emphasized that he will forever remember his energy, talent and contribution to Montenegrin football.
"In these difficult moments, on behalf of the Montenegrin Olympic Committee, and on my own behalf, I send my most sincere condolences to Matija's family, friends, and the entire football community," reads Simonović's telegram.
Kapisoda: The epitome of dedication and passion for football
The President of the Handball Association of Montenegro, Petar Kapisoda, said that it was with great sadness and disbelief that he received the news of Matija Šarkić's premature departure.
"In these difficult moments for Montenegrin sport, on behalf of the Handball Association of Montenegro and on my own behalf, I send my most sincere condolences to Matija's family, friends and the entire football community," said Kapisoda.
He pointed out that everyone will forever remember his energy, talent and contribution to Montenegrin football.
"A professional on the field, an example of a true sportsman and off it, Matija was the embodiment of commitment and passion for football. Only ten days ago in Brussels, he delighted football Europe, and his unforgettable defense against Belgium, one of the best national teams in the world, will forever remain engraved in the memory of all of us," added Kapisoda.
His untimely death, he says, is an irreparable loss.
"For Montenegrin sports, his family, friends, teammates, and everyone who knew him," Kapisoda said in a telegram addressed to the president of the Football Association of Montenegro, Dejan Savićević.
Mandić: An irreparable loss for the family and the country
The President of the Assembly Andrija Mandić said that the sudden departure of the young, dedicated and extremely talented goalkeeper Matija Šarkić is an irreparable loss for his family and our country.
"In this difficult moment, I want to express my sincere condolences to his family, as well as to the football team of Montenegro," Mandic said.
Bečić: Words are superfluous, and the sadness is too great
Deputy Prime Minister Aleksa Bečić said that Montenegro "remained silent this morning".
"It was with disbelief that we received the news of the sudden death of the young, brave, extremely talented and European-recognized goalkeeper of the net of our football team, Matija Šarkić. Words are superfluous, and the sadness is too great. Condolences to the family and friends of dear Matija. Montenegro will remember you forever." wrote Bečić.
Milatović: Irreparable loss for Montenegro
The President of Montenegro, Jakov Milatović, expressed his condolences to the family and the Montenegrin and football public regarding the death of Sarkić.
Milatović stated on the social network Iks that he received the news of Sarkić's death with disbelief.
"His premature departure is an irreparable loss for his family, our football, sport and Montenegro," said Milatović.
He pointed out that brilliant talent, combativeness on the field and chivalrous spirit are the qualities that graced Matija and by which we will forever remember him.
"In these difficult moments, I send my deepest condolences to the family and the entire Montenegrin and football public," said Milatović.
Šćekić: The news that left us all in shock
Dragoslav Šćekić, Deputy Prime Minister for Demography and Youth and Minister of Sports and Youth, sent a telegram of condolence.
"The news that Matija Šarkić left this world this morning left us all in shock. This is a great loss for his family, Montenegrin football and sport. I send my sincere condolences to his family and friends," wrote Šćekić in a telegram.
