The former selector of the national football team of Montenegro, Faruk Hadžibegić, said that he was saddened by the news that the young goalkeeper Matija Šarkić passed away.
"I was deeply saddened by the news of the sudden and premature departure of an exemplary and valuable athlete. Matija was an extremely talented goalkeeper who had a great international career ahead of him," said Hadžibegić, who played for Matija in goal for the Montenegrin national team.
"My sincere condolences to the Šarkić family and the Football Association of Montenegro," reads Hadžibegić's condolence telegram.
