The premature departure of Matija Šarkić made the whole football world cry, however, apart from the great athletes from Slovenia, no one else paid their respects to the young Montenegrin goalkeeper during the European Championship in Germany.
Białystok Edin Idrizović, former European champion in modern dance, decided precisely at Euro 2024 to thank Matija in his own way for everything he did for Montenegro.
A banner with a photo of our goalkeeper was spread from the stands of the "Alijanc Arena" during the match between Denmark and Serbia.
"In memory of our Matija Šarkić, I decided to make a banner in his honor for the match of the European Championship in Munich and thus remind the organizers that a minute of silence was something they should have done for our Matija. To remind all players and national teams that they should have they pay tribute to a young man and athlete," wrote Edin on Instagram.
Matija Šarkić died suddenly on June 15 in Budva - just nine days after he showed what a class goalkeeper he is in the goal of Montenegro in a friendly match against Belgium.
"I felt the need, first of all, as a human being, to thank Matija in this way for honorably and proudly defending the colors of our flag, and I proudly carried this flag at the "Alijanc Arena" and kept his image from being forgotten. Thank you Matija, rest in peace." Idrizovic added.
