After five years, Milan Mijatović returned to Budućnost this summer - the national team goalkeeper defended for Podgorica from 2017 to 2019, and then went abroad, where he played for Levski, MTK, Al-Adalah, Borac from Banja Luka and Železničar .
Now he is back in the capital of Montenegro, with a lot of experience behind him.
"It's nice to be part of the Future again. The very return means that in the previous term I was comfortable and felt great. There was a lack of trophies in my previous tenure, as we only won one Cup in two seasons and I believe that now everything will be different. I believe there will be trophies," said Mijatović in an interview for the club's website.
Buducnost is preparing in Slovenia, and Mijatović defended 60 minutes against Maribor and 65 minutes against Poland's Zaglebje from Lubin. He was also in goal in a friendly match against Mornar.
"If we take into account that we are tired, which is normal for this part of the preparation, I don't think it all looked bad at all. Of course, we have to fix certain things both defensively and offensively, but we are halfway through the preparations and I have no doubt that we will look much better when we get fresh".
Mijatović points out that the atmosphere in the team is excellent.
"In general, we all know each other, we seniors also played together in the previous term... I think the atmosphere is excellent, and the more we get to know each other, the better for everyone. The difference compared to the previous time when I was in Budućnost is that now the club has much more potential in younger players."
He also had advice for younger players.
"My advice for all of them is that they have to work on themselves, listen to the advice of the coaches, and even our elders, in order to develop that potential and talent and become top players. Of course, I'm also thinking of my colleague Filip Domazetović, because as a goalkeeper with some experience, I can see that he can be a goalkeeper for a serious level".
Buducnost is nearing the end of his preparations in Slovenia, returning to Podgorica on July 2, the day after the match with Egnatija.
"I think everyone's feeling is great, because we have everything we need here. Peace, good pitches, conditions, strong opponents... Speaking of games, I think we played better against Maribor than against Zaglebj, and the reason is because we were fresher. However, in both games we had our chances and there were good checks behind us. And Egnatija will help us to get along and try to accept the demands that the boss is asking for, and it will also help the boss to see how much he can count on before Europe and the championship," said the goalkeeper of Buducnosti.
Qualifications for the League of Conferences are approaching, Budućnost will play against Mališeva on July 11, while the second leg is seven days later in Gorica.
"We got an opponent of our choice, a rival with whom we can play, but with whom we must be careful. It is up to us to freshen up, prepare, analyze the opponent as a team and individually and to approach the game seriously - only with such thinking can we hope to advance to the next round", said Milan Mijatović at the end of the conversation.
