He established himself in Mornar, became a senior representative of Montenegro, it's time for an international breakthrough - Demir Škrijelj signed a three-year contract with Ukrainian Vorskla today.
He was greeted by the jersey with the number 10, which speaks volumes for the reputation he arrives with, but also the expectations.
"I am extremely satisfied with coming to a club like this, with the high goals that have been presented to us, and that is certainly going to Europe," said Škrijelj after signing the contract.
He wore the Sailor jersey for three years, and he reached his peak in the previous season, when he helped the Barani achieve historic success with great games and, by winning second place, placed them on the international stage.
"I would like to thank my Sailor and the fans once again, who greatly enhanced my stay in Bar. Unforgettable memories remain, I wish the club good luck in their journey to Europe".
Škrijelj made his debut for the Montenegrin national team in March of this year, and moving abroad was a logical, natural sequence for the 26-year-old master.
"Now it's time for a new step forward and a new proof in a strong league. I am very satisfied with the team and the warm welcome at the club. The fact that I have borrowed the number 10 is a clear indication of what the ambitions are this season and I will do my best to justify the expectations of all the people in Vorskla who believe in me".
Vorskla is from Poltava, in central Ukraine, and last season was ninth in the league of 16 clubs.
In a country where a war is raging in the eastern part, football is played unhindered, which is a clear sign of pride and defiance.
"Life in Ukraine is excellent for now, personal conditions are fantastic, I signed a contract for three years. It is a very high level and I am happy that I will be on the radar of the national team", said Škrijelj, who signed the contract in the company of the football manager. Mateja Spadier.
