The current coach of the Danish football team, Kasper Hjulmand (52), has resigned, the Danish Football Association (DBU) announced.
Hjulmand led the Danes to the semi-finals of Euro 2020, which is the greatest success of the "dynamite" since the European title in 1992, as well as to the round of XNUMX of the recent European Championship in Germany.
The only real setback "Dynamite" had under Hjulmand was at the World Cup in Qatar, when they were eliminated in the group in competition with France, Australia and Tunisia.
The Danes have recently had a problem with efficiency at major tournaments, as they scored only three goals in seven matches at the EP 2020 and WC 2022.
"The team needs new energy. It was an incredible honor and privilege to be the coach of the national team for four years. I did my best to achieve success and gather people around the national team. Representing my country is absolutely the greatest thing I can imagine, but it's not about to me. It's about what's best for the team," said Hjulmand for the DBU website.
Morten Vighorst will be the interim coach until 2025, the Football Association of Denmark announced.
Before coming to the helm of Denmark, Hjulmand je vodio Nordsjelland, Mainz i Lyngby.
