Adam Marušić has been one of the symbols of Lazio for years, and he started his eighth season in the club from Rome with the captain's armband in a friendly match against the lower class Auronac.
As expected, it was an easier training session for the "Biancoceleste" (23:0), and after the game, the Montenegrin footballer spoke for the club's television.
"Captain's armband? After the departure of Ćir Imobile, our captain is Danilo (Kataldi), but since he didn't play this time, the armband ended up with me - I'm proud of that, but even without it I feel a great responsibility, because I always have to play the best I can I can," explained our ace.
During the previous season, Lazio was led by two coaches, Mauricio Sari and Igor Tudor, while they enter the new "sky blue" with a new head coach - Marko Baroni, who arrived from Verona.
"The new coach has a great desire to work, you can immediately feel how strong he is - he has his own idea of the game and is a great motivator. Of course, it is clear that we have to continue to work a lot more," Marušić emphasized.
Many of Marušić's teammates, with whom he shared the dressing room for years, left Lazio this summer.
"Felipe Anderson, Luis Alberto, Ćiro Imobile left... There are new guys, and it's up to us, the more experienced ones, to explain to them what kind of environment they've come into and what the expectations are," added Marušić.
During his years in Lazio, the Montenegrin footballer played in several positions (back, winger, even stopper) either on the left or right...
"I will play where the coach wants. We have more solutions on the left than on the right, but the season is long and we need all the players," Marušić concluded.
