Manchester United coach Erik ten Haag admitted that his team is not ready for the first game of the new Premier League season against Fulham.
The competition in the Premier League begins on Friday, when United will welcome Fulham at Old Trafford at 21 p.m.
Ten Haag said that new players Matijs de Licht and Nusair Mazraoui will be in the team for the upcoming game, but that Joshua Zirkze and Leni Joro will miss the duel due to injuries. The coach also has problems with the physical preparation of the players who joined the team at different stages of preparation due to obligations in the national teams.
"It is true that these were not preparations in which you can work with the team for five or six weeks. It is complicated. We had a team for the tour of the USA, then the players who played in the European Championship and the Copa America came, and now reinforcements, and now we have to make a team out of it. The team is not ready, but the league is starting. There are more coaches who have this problem," said Sky.
"We definitely have that problem, but we still have some rules, some principles and we have to start. We can't hide, we can't run away from it, so we have to face it," added the United coach.
Ten Haag once worked with De Ligt and Mazraoui at Ajax and they will be in the squad, as will Harry Maguire, who picked up a knock against Manchester City in the Community Shield, but has to start the season without several players.
"Problems exist, but it's not about the players who are not available. I said that last season as well. It's about the players I have at my disposal, and we have a good group, we can make a strong selection, we can make a strong team and we will do that ", he stated.
Rasmus Hojlund and Joro did not compete in the tournament with poor players Rasmus Hojlund and Joro, while Luk Shaw and Tajrel Malasia played.
