Iceland coach Oge Hareide announced yesterday the list of players he is counting on for the matches with Montenegro and Turkey at the start of the League of Nations, after which two footballers found themselves in the center of attention.
One is the legendary captain of the "Vikings" Aron Gunarson, which Hareide is not counting on this time, and the other is the new football sensation from the "land of fire and ice" Ori Oskarson.
The boy who was taken by Copenhagen from the Academy from Iceland is compared with Erlingham Halland, and especially in the world of football, he was heard about this summer when information appeared that they wanted him Pep Guardiola and Manchester City.
Icelandic journalists were interested in Hareide's thoughts on the possibility of the great Icelandic talent moving to one of the strongest teams in the world, with a coach who changed football...
"If he asks me for advice, which my players often do, of course I will give it, but at the end of the day - it's up to them what they want to do. Of course we all want them to play for the best clubs, but the most important thing is just that - to play . If Manchester City brings him, he would be a replacement for Haaland," said the coach of Iceland, who is also a Norwegian as well as the star of "Citizens".
He emphasized once again that this issue is primarily for Oskarson.
"That's right, it's not right for me, because first of all I want him to play. Today he's the number one striker in Copenhagen and he'll probably play in the Conference League, so I think he's in a good place," added Hareide.
Montenegro will open the League of Nations against Oskarson, Hareide and Iceland - on September 6 in Reykjavik.
His dad eliminated the Future twice
Ori Oskarson comes from a football family, as a boy he was coached by his mother, while his father is a famous coach in Iceland, and is well known to football fans in Montenegro.
His name is Oskar Torvaldson, and Budućnosti fans will remember him as the man who twice eliminated the Podgorica club from European competitions.
He did it both times with Brejdablika - first two years ago from the Conference League, and then last summer convincingly (5:0) from the Champions League qualifiers.
