Dutch football player Steven Bergwein criticized today the coach of the national team, Ronald Koeman, who kicked him out of the team after the transfer to Saudi Arabia.
Bergwein moved from Ajax to Al-Ittihad on Monday, and Koeman accused him of "lack of sporting ambition" and said that he would not be called up to the national team again.
Bergwein, who has made 2018 appearances and scored eight goals for the Netherlands since 35, said he was hurt by Koeman's comments at a press conference on Tuesday.
"You don't treat players like that. I always considered it an honor to play for the Dutch national team, but under this coach I don't want that anymore. I ended up with someone who deliberately portrays me like this in the media," the 26-year-old Bergwein told the Dutch Telegraf.
He also said that he was disappointed that Kuman did not talk to him first and repeated that he did not want to cooperate anymore.
Bergwein played for the national team at the European Championship in Germany this summer and was a starter in the round of 16 and quarter-finals of that tournament.
The Netherlands will play against Bosnia and Herzegovina on Saturday, and against Germany in the League of Nations on Tuesday.
