In the shadow of the long European summer of Montenegrin clubs, Petrovac prepared hard and the quality of work for the 2024/2025 season. year, Zdravko Dragićević's team demonstrated in the first six championship games. Petrovac is in the second position with 11 points, two less than the leader Budućnost, against whom it suffered its only defeat in the first round.
However, the representative break was welcomed in Petrovac with a smile, with five games without defeat, three wins.
- First of all, I would like to congratulate the clubs that represented us in Europe, because they raised the bar and gave us hope that we can be competitive - said Dragićević, himself the hero of one of the most beautiful stories as the goal scorer for Petrovac in the elimination of Anorthosis in 2010.
In the continuation of the autumn football season, Petrovac will play against Bokelje at its stadium on September 14.
- I am satisfied with the game, the result, and my coaching staff and club management are equally satisfied. The players were rewarded with two days off, and they are hard-working, hard-working and maximally engaged in training and matches. The fact that we got off to a good start is somewhat due to luck that during the preparations, for two weeks each on our home field and in Zlatibor, we did not have any problems with health, injuries or working conditions. We also had strong tests, and everything came together perfectly... And all seven newly arrived players were with us from the start of the preparations - explained Dragićević.
Compared to last season and the fear of the first relegation at the end of the season, seven players left Petrovac. Dragićević was reassigned from the position of assistant to the head of the profession with six rounds to go, and immediately with a victory over Dečić, he paved the way for the new first league season. Petrovčani, along with Sutjeska and Budućnost, are the only permanent members of the domestic elite, Dragićević deserved the opportunity to continue leading the first team.
- A lot of important players left for us, the team's top scorer Slobodan Babić to Hungary, Luka Malešević to Dečić... However, I have been at the club for a long time, I know the team and I submitted a list of reinforcements by position to the management and I already had them all ready before the start. The management did a fantastic job and the players I personally scouted and selected turned out to be real reinforcements. We brought Faust and Kapisoda back, Šimun, Golubović, Pupović and Stanišić came, while I brought Castenad from Argentina based on a recommendation and a review of recordings. I believe that we have the team to remain a stable first division team, which is the goal, maybe even more than that, and be in the race at least for the trophy in the Cup of Montenegro - Dragićević pointed out.
As the captain in 2010, he lifted the first cup in the history of OFK Petrovac - the 2010 Montenegrin Cup.
- My wish is to do it as a coach and to leave a mark in this club in that way. And I'm working on getting better, and my candidacy for the PRO license was accepted in May. I was lucky to work in a group of extremely high-quality trainers with different knowledge and experience, we know each other, and I would not waste words on mentors, local or foreign. We really have opportunities to improve - concluded Dragićević.
