On the grounds of the Camp of the Football Association of Montenegro, the third junior category tournament "Podgorica Trophy" was opened tonight, organized by the Zlatna lobta football club.
What kind of tournament it is, is best illustrated by the numbers, but also by the names - as many as 92 teams are participating, among which are regional giants such as Crvena zvezda, Partizan, CSKA from Sofia, Sarajevo, Željezničar, Borc from Banja Luka... Seven teams from Kazakhstan are also participating. , there is also the Croatian Adiratik, Du Talent from Dubrovnik.
In four days, over 200 matches will be played on the grounds of the FSCG, Budućnosti and OFK Titograd camps.
- As serious hosts of a large football event for children, we started preparations for the tournament already in January. Since Podgorica does not have a hotel with a larger accommodation capacity, the first step was to work on the accommodation of the teams in several hotels in the city. We received great help in the organization of the tournament from the Football Association of Montenegro, because they allowed us to hold this football festival on their grounds - said Zlatko Kostić, a former football player of Budućnosti, on behalf of the organizers.
The opening ceremony, in front of well-filled stands, with the presence of many children of various ages, was enhanced by fireworks that lit up the sky above Podgorica.
- The tournament is played in parallel for five different age categories. With great pleasure we welcomed the regional giants, but also teams from Bulgaria, Kazakhstan... I am especially glad that numerous teams from Montenegro will also show their football qualities at the tournament - said Kostić.
