In April of this year, Montenegrin football got another international player. It was under the radar for the general public, but quickly the young attacker gained attention and word got out about who he really was - his name is Christian Jovovich, this is a guy who turned 16 in February and signed a contract with the Polish Legion.
Jovović went to Warsaw from Grblje, became part of Legija's academy and pledged his loyalty to the great until the summer of 2026.
Born in Budva, in addition to the Montenegrin one, he also has a Polish passport, the local public does not hide that they would like Jovović to wear the jersey of their national team in the future.
But at this moment - Kristijan is a member of the Montenegrin national team, he recently wore the jersey of the cadet selection at the "Sirenka Cup" tournament in Poland.
And he was the scorer precisely against the Poles, in that match Montenegro was defeated on penalties after a draw (2:2), but Jovović showed that he is one of the biggest assets of the team he leads Radovan Kavaja.
Jovović, who is 194 centimeters tall, certainly has a bright future ahead of him.
"I have everything I need in Legia to reach the level I want," Jovović told "Vijesti".
He is aware that time works for him.
"It wasn't easy for me when I arrived at Legija. I needed a period of adaptation to a different and much bigger job than in Montenegro, but I'm slowly getting used to that system and I'm satisfied with how things are going," said Jovović.
He also has a special program, he works more individually.
"I work a lot in the gym, I also have individual training, because I have grown to 194 centimeters, so I am going through a special program that the people from the club set for me. I am 16 and a half years old and currently I play for my age group, and occasionally with the U19 team." says Jovović immediately after the end of the tournament in Poland, where Montenegro left a good impression despite defeats by the hosts, Romania and Norway.
Jovović dreams of many things to continue her career, and the first and most realistic is:
"To make my debut for Legia's first team and to score goals, which is my job. To repay the club for everything it has given me since I arrived in Warsaw. I would especially like to thank the director Marek Šledu which allowed me to become part of the Legion," says Jovović.
Given that Christian has both Montenegrin and Polish passports, the logical question arises as to which team he will play for in the future.
"Now I am a member of the Montenegrin national team and I enjoy every moment I spend in the red jersey. I also thank the coach Radovan Kavaja for giving me the opportunity to play. I hope we will pass the qualifications and qualify for the European Championship. I recently played against Poland, for which I performed last year, I gave her a goal and I just want to continue like that - to shake the nets".
When it comes to idols, there is no dilemma - it's the father Marko.
"He is my biggest supporter. He was a professional sportsman, he played water polo, and he gives me the right advice on how to become a good man and a good football player," Kristijan is clear.
And on the field he wants to be like Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
"I adore Zlatan. I would like to be like him, I look a lot like him physically. Which club do I support? If I could choose - I would play for Barcelona," the 16-year-old forward concludes immodestly.
