The oldest Montenegrin sports club has not played in Cetinje for seven years, but Lovćen finally has favorable winds and the rudder in the hands of people who do everything for the status deserved by tradition, the great football names it gave birth to and indebted to the entire community. Lovćen has had a great start in the Second Football League this season, it is undefeated in the first five rounds - it has three wins, for the 2nd place in the table with one point less and one game less than Rudar.
It is not only an encouraging fact that Lovćen plays well and well, but also that he is led by "his children" - the head of the profession is the former whirlwind striker Ivan Jablan, he is assisted by his teammate Blažo Perutović, the goalkeeper coach is Joco Perović, and he started his coaching career with them to also baked by Igor Marković.
- We didn't set goals, we won't even do that, even though it became obvious that we made good use of the transition period. I had a free hand, I put the emphasis on bringing in young, promising players, mainly representatives of our junior national teams, along with a couple of more experienced players who would be their guide. For now, the team seems like a great combination of youth and experience, but we won't talk about ambitions. We are a club with an extremely modest budget, but with all contractual obligations met within the deadline and for now the most important thing for us is to affirm as many footballers as possible. Of course, if there is an opportunity for us to grab something more from the edge, why not use it - asked 45-year-old coach Ivan Jablan.
He took over the team in January, easily introduced him to the calm waters of the second league caravan, and now...
- Now the most important thing is to continue the project of hard and dedicated work in all categories and ready to face the day when we will play at our stadium. We expect that it will be in the second part of the season, or rather, the winner of the tender has committed to completing the works by the end of the year. We still need chairs, mats and the area around the field to be arranged. We've had enough of more "degassing", this season we were hosts once at the FSCG camp, and the other next door at the OFK Titograda stadium. In the last one, we also used the stadiums in Petrovac, Bokelje, and so on since 2017. Good games and results until the opening of our stadium would also mean more support from the audience in the continuation of the championship, and that would mean something to us - explained Jablan.
However, in Lovcen they have conditions for work.
- We have ideal conditions, pitches with lighting and a high-quality and dedicated team of coaches who have been working fantastically with all younger categories for two and a half years. The interest and invitations from the professional staffs of all junior national teams are a confirmation of that. And we in the first team are also following the work, cadet Danilo Janković and Andrej Martinović, who is standard in Radovan Kavaja's selection, have already made their debut in the Second League. I must also praise all the participants of our younger selections, who work dedicatedly, with unquestionable talent - concluded Jablan.
