The midfielder of the Manchester City football club, the Spaniard Rodri, assessed today that the players are close to making a decision on a strike due to the increased number of matches, especially during the Champions League, which is played in a new format.
The defensive midfielder spoke to the press ahead of tomorrow's first leg in the Champions League, whose new rules foresee eight matches, rather than six as before.
"If you ask any player, they will tell you the same thing. That's the general opinion among the players, it's not just my opinion. If it continues like this, we will have no other choice," said Rodri about the possibility of a strike.
The football players' union (FIFPro) recently called for protective measures for the players, who are under great pressure to increase the number of matches.
"We have to take care of ourselves... If people want to see better football, we have to rest. In other words, if the number of games increases, the level and quality decreases," Rodri added ahead of tomorrow's match with Inter Milan in Manchester .
