Luis Suarez won everything in his career, made a name for himself in the Barcelona jersey, he also shone with the Uruguay national team - he scored many important goals in the national team, gained the status of a legend, and at the end of his career, he experienced being humiliated in the "Urus" jersey.
The popular Pistolero revealed this in a conversation with the local media and blamed the bad situation in the selection to which he gave everything he had - the coach Marcel Bjelsa.
- Now after a certain time I can tell the fans: if something goes wrong, don't blame the players for it - said Suarez.
Bjelsa, who in the world of football is called Ludak, is known as a fanatical coach, an expert in a specific style of behavior and who sticks to discipline. Of course, he wanted to implement this in Uruguay as well... Suarez said goodbye to the national team less than a month ago with the message:
- I have my reasons. It's difficult - Suarez said then.
Now he was specific, so he revealed in the TV show "De fútbol se habla así" that there are new rules in the training camp of the national team and according to them employees are not allowed to say "hello" to the players. This was not the case until the arrival of Bjelsa, and the car definitely went downhill during the America's Cup.
- There were situations that hurt me, but I didn't want to talk about it publicly because of the atmosphere within the team. We had problems, several players held a meeting to try to fix some things. In particular, they believed that the relationship with the selector should be such that he at least greets us when we meet. He never did that - said Suarez.
- Bjelsa says nice things at press conferences, and when we were in New York, he forbade us to greet the fans who are there for us. I confronted him and said that we will do it anyway. Later we had a five-minute conversation, I was there on behalf of the player, and at the end of the conversation he just said to me: "Thank you very much." It's not easy to function in such an environment, in Uruguay it was always different, more cheerful... I'm saying all this so that people don't blame the players tomorrow, when things don't go right. Bjelsa divided them and that's why the situation is the way it is - concluded the scorer of 69 goals in the Uruguay jersey.
