The football team of Montenegro is nearing the end of preparations for the match against Turkey, which is scheduled for Friday (20:45) in Samsun in the third round of the League of Nations.
"Brave Falcons" have been training with their full lineup since Tuesday, and striker Nikola Krstović says that the team is in a good mood going to another away game and hopes for a positive outcome.
"Only yesterday we all trained together, I hope we will be ready for the match. We know what Turkey is like, it played well at the European Championship and was on the threshold of the semi-finals. It also started well in the League of Nations. We don't have much time to analyze and playing in, but we are traveling in a positive mood," Krstović said before leaving for Turkey.
In September, Montenegro was defeated by Iceland away (2:0) and Wales in Nikšić (2:1), while Turkey drew with the Welsh (0:0) and defeated the Icelanders (3:1).
"We can play well and achieve a positive result, and lately luck has turned its back on us. We will try to deserve it. We played well against Wales, had more than 20 shots in 90 minutes. From the beginning of his tenure, coach Prosinečki put us know that he wants us to play offensively and we showed that. We are aware of what awaits us, I hope that Wales and those first three minutes will not happen again," said the Leće striker.
He referred to the match against the Welsh in Nikšić, when Montenegro conceded two goals in three minutes.
"There is nothing to complain about the team. Since I have been in the national team, I have not seen as much desire as was shown against Wales. It was a great fight, but there was a lack of luck," added Krstović.
Turkey played well at the European Championship, reaching the quarter-finals, where they lost to the Netherlands.
"We hope to do a feat, big games are decided by the nuances. We go in a good mood and I hope we come back with some point. The atmosphere has never been better, we just need a win to rise a little more. Older players give advice, soon there will be a change of generations, we are here to help each other. Maybe the results will not follow us, but that will come."
He also referred to Turkish players from Serie A - Hakan Calhanoglu (Inter) and Kenan Yildiz (Juventus).
"Yildiz is excellent, Calhanol makes a big difference, but I believe that we will prepare for all of them and register a positive result. I know that we can do it. Unfortunately, like every time so far, we have problems with injuries and we cannot play the match with the strongest team. However, we will do our best, I can promise that," said Krstović.
Montenegro is without points after two rounds, and there are still four matches left in the group.
"It is very important that we stay in the B division. There are four more matches left and we hope for a favorable result in each one. Especially at home we can play with everyone, and in November we will host Turkey and Iceland. We hope for the best outcome of this cycle," concluded Krstović.
