Former Montenegrin national team player Luka Mirković has been wearing the Budućnosti jersey for the tenth season.
Last weekend, in the match against Sutjeska in Nikšić, he celebrated a rare jubilee - the 300th time he wore blue and white
"That number means a lot to me, it's not a small thing, and to make everything even more beautiful - the victory in the derby has arrived, so I like it even more. The future for me is a dream come true, because I think most kids who start playing football want to wear the blue and white jersey one day. I managed, I reached some records and I'm overjoyed about that," says the 33-year-old midfielder.
In almost nine and a half years, he won four titles, five cups, went through some unforgettable European duels, such as Genk and Astana...
Luka Mirković experienced both beautiful and difficult moments with the team from Podgorica. What is his favorite?
"The celebration of the 30th birthday of our loyal Varvar fans, a party under Gorica and a goal in that match," Mirković recalls in 2017.
This season, now as a hardened midfielder, he accepted a slightly different role.
"I accepted that it was time for some younger guys, which is quite logical. In my opinion, young Bulatović plays in the best form and is consistent, next to him there is Savović, who has enormous potential and who will show himself in full glory in a few years, and there are also Đukanović, Brajović, Vukanić... who are through preparations and matches showed that they can be counted on".
With his experience, constancy and dedication, Mirković is in a way a mentor to all the younger ones, who can certainly learn how each training should be done, how to behave both when it's bad and when it's good...
"First of all, guys have to be patient. In football, you have to be hardworking and only hard work pays off, and you have to give your all in every training because that's the only way to progress. All the talented guys in our club must be aware that they are in the best club in the country and that only in Buducnosti can they progress in the right way. Year after year, the club invests in younger selections, has created a large number of players, and the best indicator of all this came when Vasilij Adžić moved to Juventus," Mirković is clear.
The future is solidly first in the table.
"Tactically, we are in a great position, we play hard, and all the lines of the team function flawlessly. "We don't even think that something is over or that we have done some big things, because there is still a lot to play, and the worst thing in football is when you relax," said Mirković, who had a clear message:
"Only now we need to work even harder and better in order to reach the common goal".
The second-placed team is six points away, last year's champion Dečić is with a game more at "minus nine", the biggest rival Sutjesk is at "minus 13" - also with a game more...
"Generally, Petrovac made the biggest impression on everyone, but that shouldn't surprise us, because a good and solid team led by captain Boljević and the experienced Kapisod was put together. However, I still think that Dečić will be our biggest rival in the fight for the title, because he has excellent players and as a team, he will surely get out of the crisis quickly", concluded Mirković.
