Arda Guler, Mert Muldur, Hakan Çalhanoglu... During the summer, Turkey was in charge of the most beautiful and attractive goals of the European Championship, but against Montenegro and Igor Nikić, who kept the goal of his country for the first time in the hell of Samsun, they had to do well they struggled and shook the net from the bounced ball.
The "Falcons" did not manage to avoid defeat for the third time in the B League of Nations, Turkey won 69:1 with a goal by Irfan Kavedži in the 0th minute.
There were several good moments in the game of our national team this time, but the most positive thing is the guy from the beginning of the story, the goalkeeper Dečić, who made a perfect debut for Montenegro in an atmosphere in which even more experienced goalkeepers do not cope.
"We played against a national team that reached the very end of the European Championship and that speaks volumes about its quality. The stadium was full, the atmosphere was great - the only regret remains that the result was not positive, but we will move on," Nikić said after returning from Samsun.
From plane to plane
"The Falcons" played last night against the strongest team in the group, today they arrived from Samsun, and already tomorrow they have a new flight - to Cardiff, where they will play against Wales just three days after the match in Turkey (Monday, 20.45:XNUMX p.m.).
"We got to rest a bit, but we know that another very difficult away game awaits us. Wales is also a quality team, and we are going to play football. We will try to take advantage of the chance that the coach gives us and achieve a good result," Nikić added. .
Does Montenegro have a chance on the Island against a rival against whom it was defeated in Nikšić due to a desperate three minutes of the game.
"I think we have it - we showed it in Nikšić after the rival took a 2:0 lead. Those first five minutes were really bad, but after that we had a lot of chances. The rival also showed that he has quality, but I think we can play with everyone we're playing," Nikić explained.
Is Montenegro getting a new "unit" for longer distances in Nikić?
"Milan Mijatović is still in good shape, Balša Popović is a good goalkeeper, Danijel Petković is here... Each of the four of us is working well, so whoever gets a chance - we are all ready," emphasized Nikić.
Šipčić: Vujacić and I understand each other well
Nikić had an excellent debut, and the two guys who were in front of him also defending the goal of Montenegro played an excellent match... If Stefan Savić had not been injured, Nikola Šipčić and Igor Vujacić most likely would not have been the stopper tandem in Samsun. Nevertheless, coach Robert Prosinečki decided that this time the two of them would command the defense - and he was not wrong.
"It's not the first time that Vujacic and I play together, we understand each other well. Whoever plays, it is important that there is good communication on the field," said Šipčić.
It was not easy against many masters that Turkey has...
"We knew it would be a difficult away game, Turkey is one of the better teams we've played with in recent years. We did a good job in the first half, the fact that we had less possession than them is expected. We had chances that we didn't use. It's a shame that we didn't take even a point considering the effort the team put in. But we have to move on, Wales is waiting for us," added the Spanish Cartagena stopper.
And, can Wales break the negative streak of five consecutive defeats?
"The match in Nikšić showed that we can play with Wales, I don't remember that in any match we had as many chances as in that one. Everything is possible, it would be good to end the losing streak. We are thinking positively," says the Montenegrin defender.
Šipčić subsequently received a call-up for the September matches after injuries to Savić and Vujacić, now he was the starter against Turkey...
"Every chance should be used - I'm grateful for every call, I'm sorry that earlier injuries prevented me from being in the team more often, now I'm here to take advantage of everything that's given to me," Šipčić concluded.
