What Manchester United looked like and what results it had, it is a real miracle that Erik ten Haag remained on the bench of the giants until the last days of October, but as of today, the era of the Dutchman at "Old Trafford" has finally ended.
Finally, because many thought that the change would happen much earlier, but the leaders of United waited and waited for who knows what reason - they broke after the defeat against West Ham (2:1) in which the "devils" had a large number of zicers, and ten days after the famous Sir Alex Ferguson definitely left the club.
Behind Ten Hag are two complete seasons in which he won trophies in the League Cup and the FA Cup, but the reality is that no one in the club and around him could be satisfied.
Because, in his era, from the summer of 2022, United spent as much as 660 million euros on reinforcements, almost none of which showed what they were brought in for - that they can make a difference and are capable of launching United into the fight for the title.
Ten Haag is not regretted by the fans of the giants, but neither is the public, especially the journalists whom the Dutchman often resented for the way they criticize him. He even had some statements that were commented on with derision.
"Since I've been here, only Pep Guardiola has more trophies," is one of Ten Hag's "pearls".
Ten Haag's departure was also speculated at the end of last season, but then it seemed that the cup in the FA Cup (victory in the final over City) disrupted the club's plans, so the former Ajax coach started the third season on the bench, regardless of the fact that he did not go through the championship secured placement in the Champions League.
This season is a story in itself, because after nine rounds in the Premier League United have only 11 points and only eight goals scored.
West Ham signed the change and it was in a way symbolic - for Ten Haag to be fired after one of the best games of the "devils" since he arrived at the club.
And what now?
It is known that the team will be led by Ruud van Nistelrooy, at least temporarily, and at least ten people are mentioned as new managers - the list includes Gareth Southgate, Zinedine Zidane, Xavi Hernandez, Edin Terzic, Graham Potter, Thomas Frank, Ruben Amorim, Kieran McKenna, Roberto de Zerbi, Simone Inzaghi...
