Fenerbahce coach Jose Mourinho criticized the level of refereeing in Turkish football after his side beat Trabzon with a goal in the 102nd minute.
Last night, Fenerbahçe beat Trazbonspor 3:2 on the away field with a goal by Sofjan Amrabat in stoppage time.
The former coach of Chelsea, Manchester United, Inter and Real Madrid is unhappy that Trabzonspor were awarded two penalties, both after VAR intervention, and thinks that his team should have received a penalty before the winning goal, the BBC reported today.
Mourinho even questioned why he came to Turkey and criticized referee Oguzan Cakir and VAR referee Atila Karaoglan.
"I blame the people from Fenerbahçe who brought me here. They only told me half the truth. They didn't tell me the whole truth because if they had, I wouldn't have come. But with the half-truth and my guys, we fight against the opponent and the system," he said is Mourinho for beIN Sports.
"Karaoglan was ready to make a decision for two penalties that the referee didn't award, and then he was drinking Turkish tea when there was an obvious penalty for us, and he didn't award it," he added.
Fenerbahce is now second in the table, five points behind the leader Galatasaray.
"The player of the match was Atila Karaoglan. We didn't see him, but he was the referee. The referee was just a boy on the field, but the head referee was Atila Karaoglan. From being invisible, he becomes the most important man in the match," said Mourinho.
"I think I speak for every Fenerbahce fan - we don't want him again. We don't want him as a VAR referee. We don't want him on the pitch, but as VAR even less," the Portuguese coach added.
Trabzonspor coach Senol Gunes rejected Mourinho's allegations.
"I don't need to talk about them. What happened? Penalty or not? A goal scored? Not a goal? Many things can be talked about. I certainly stay away from it. Although there is a lot of noise, the decisions were against Trabzonspor, not ours benefit," he said.
