Turkish footballers continued their excellent performances from the European Championship in Germany during the autumn through the League of Nations, so they are only one step away from returning to the A League.
The national team led by Vincenzo Montela has two more League B matches to play, and the question of promotion to a higher rank wants to end before the last round against Montenegro in Nikšić.
"We want to beat Wales in Kayseri, qualify for League A and go to Montenegro as a friendly match," said Ceyhun Kazanczi, vice president of the Turkish Football Association.
He also assessed for "Haberler" that Turkey was very good during the League of Nations, except for the match against Wales away from home.
"Now that's exactly why Wales is the most important," Kazandzi added.
And for Montela, the match with the "dragons" has priority.
"Goals? Our goal is the next two games, especially the first one against Wales because we want to secure League A," the Italian expert pointed out.
In the last few days, Montela got Turkey on its feet by saying that he would find himself in a difficult situation if he were to receive an invitation from Roma, who are struggling this year and have already fired Daniele de Rossi, and are close to doing the same with Ivan Jurić.
"Vincenzo is one of Roma's legends and such an answer is natural. However, he has a contract until the end of the 2026 World Cup, he is happy here and 100 percent focused on us. Successful coaches are always targeted by big clubs, but he will be with us until the end ", emphasized Kazandzhi.
Both the vice-president and the selector have one dream.
"We have to work hard to make our dreams come true. As I said, our first goal is to enter League A, as well as to stay there for a long time, but we also want to play at the World Cup as soon as possible," Montela said, while Kazandzi added :
"Qualifications for the next World Cup are the most important for us".
Montenegro and Turkey will meet on November 19 in Nikšić, while three days earlier our team will meet Iceland at the same place, and Montela's boys will face Wales. Robert Prosinečki and the Falcons will chase the first points at the end of the competition.
