The head coach of the youth football team of Montenegro, Goran Perišić, announced the list of players for the preliminary round of qualifications for the European Championship.
Montenegro will try to win the second consecutive placement in the elite round in the competition of the tournament hosts Greece, Italy and Bosnia and Herzegovina. The matches are scheduled from November 13 to 19.
"Extremely strong group, with Italy as the clear favorite. In addition to being the host, Greece has a very high-quality team, as well as Bosnia and Herzegovina, which we know well from previous years. We will do everything in our power to win a new place in the elite round." said selector Perišić for the Association's website.
Most of the players who will play in these qualifiers were part of the team that was close to qualifying for the final tournament of the European Championship in March of this year. Also, most of them were one step away from qualifying for the U17 European Championship the year before.
"This year has already shown great potential in the previous cycles. That harmony, discipline and excellent atmosphere in the team are our biggest assets at the tournament in Greece," Perišić added.
Placement in the elite round will be won by the two first-placed teams, as well as the best third-placed national team from one of the 13 groups.
