The legend of Icelandic football will not play in Nikšić - Gylfi Sigurdsson, the "ten" of this selection and former midfielder of Tottenham, Swansea and Everton, was not on the list for the matches with Montenegro and Wales in the Nations League final.
The selector Age Hareide opened the cards before those duels, and apart from the news that Sigurdsson will not be on the list this time, an important detail is the return of the famous captain Aron Gunnarsson.
Hareide returned Sigurdsson to the national team before the start of the League of Nations and the first match with Montenegro in Reykjavík, and now a joint decision has been made for the Valura player to skip these actions.
"The selector and I decided together that I won't be on the roster this time - family obligations and other factors decided. In any case, I'm completely at peace with that decision," Gilfi said, as reported by Mbl.is.
The rest of the team is practically the same as for the previous matches, and the only new name on the list is Lukas Peterson, Hoffenheim's goalkeeper.
The match between Montenegro and Iceland will be played on November 16 - three days later, the "falcons" will also welcome Turkey in Nikšić, while the "Vikings" are expecting a duel with Wales.
