The female cadet football team of Montenegro was defeated today in the Slovak town of Spišska Nova Ves by Georgia 2:1, in the second round of the tournament of the first round of qualification for the European Championship.
This is the second defeat of Montenegrin footballers, after they lost to Latvia 1:4 at the start of the competition in group B1.
The winner was decided from the penalty spot, in the fifth minute of stoppage time.
Montenegro took the lead with a goal by Aleka Balević in the 38th minute. Sofija Kelashvili equalized in the 56th minute. In stoppage time, a penalty was awarded for a foul on Nato Kelashvili.
Lolita Kalojani was accurate and brought her team the first triumph in the tournament.
Montenegro will play Slovakia in the third round on Monday.
Placement in League A, that is, the second round of qualifications, will be provided by the first-placed selection, as well as the best second-placed team from all six groups.
