Manchester City footballer Rodri won the Ballon d'Or with 41 more votes than the second-placed Vinicius Junior, journalist Fabrizio Romano announced.
The award ceremony was held on October 28 in Paris, and the exact number of votes each player received was not immediately available.
No representative of Real Madrid attended the ceremony, as they knew in advance that Vinicius would not win the award.
Real believed that the organizers of the award showed disrespect towards that club.
Rodri won the Premier League, the FA Cup, the European Super Cup and the Club World Championship with Manchester City last season, and the European Championship with the Spanish national team, where he was named the best player of the tournament. Vinicius Junior won the Champions League, La Liga and the Spanish Super Cup last season with Real.
Third was his teammate from Real Jude Bellingham, fourth was Dani Carvajal, and fifth was Erling Haaland.
