The series of six defeats must be ended, and the impression left in the last two actions must be better - the national football team of Montenegro has a lot to do in the last two matches in the B League of Nations.
Is she ready to make a step forward compared to the previous four matches in which she lost to Iceland, twice to Wales and Turkey - that is another question that will be answered only on Saturday when the "brave Falcons" play the penultimate match in 2024.
The rival is Iceland in Nikšić (18 p.m.), a team that Montenegro can "catch" in the table and make the fight for the play-off for survival in the B rank interesting - after four rounds, the Icelanders have four points, our selection none...
"We have a little more time to prepare before the last two games and we want to improve our impression and end this year in the right way," says left back Andrija Vukčević.
Montenegro is at zero, it's not a realistic picture of the previous four games, but the table doesn't lie - the rivals were at least slightly better...
"I think we deserved more. In Wales, we had a bad game, especially in the first half, while in the second we had some chances. Before that, we could have done better against Turkey. It remains regrettable, but we have two chances to fix things," said the Spanish second-division player Cartagena, who adds:
"We talked a lot about everything that happened. What did we miss? The most we can regret are the missed chances against Wales in Nikšić, we also had opportunities against Turkey in Samsun that we didn't realize. When you don't score goals - then you can regret it, because if we had scored, everything would have been different".
Iceland was the first in this campaign of the B League of Nations to "discover" the flaws of the Montenegrin national team. In September in Reykjavík, it was 2:0 for the "fishermen", both goals were scored by the "falcons" from stoppage time, and it seems that they allowed the host to get the first points too easily.
"Two interruptions and two goals, that's how we were defeated. Iceland is a good team, there are several good individuals who play in serious clubs. It won't be easy even now, but we are the hosts and we have to win - a victory would mean a lot to us, we would also raise our confidence before the duel with Turkey. As long as there are chances - we will fight", said Vukčević.
The series of defeats, which has been going on since the beginning of June, creates additional pressure - Montenegro is not used to such a series and wants to end it, even though it will be weakened again.
Stevan Jovetić will be missing against Iceland due to suspension, Stefan Savić, Marko Vešović, Vasilije Adžić, Slobodan Rubežić, Milutin Osmajić are not on the list for the last action...
"After so many failures, there is pressure, but also a motive to turn around the situation we are in." We will be weakened again, but that is nothing new. I think that we didn't play a single game completely, maybe that's why we regret it, because maybe everything would have been different in this cycle if we had the strongest team. What is there is, those of us who are here will give everything to reverse the situation we are in", concluded the 28-year-old footballer.
