Arsenal captain Martin Edegor said he "listened to his body" and returned to London for rehabilitation, which will keep him out of Norway's Nations League squad.
Edegor injured his ankle on September 9 while playing for Norway in the Nations League, and then, on Sunday, he was in Arsenal's starting line-up for the first time in a 1:1 draw against Chelsea in the Premier League.
He arrived in Oslo to prepare for matches against Slovenia and Kazakhstan in the League of Nations, but will continue his rehabilitation in London.
"After talking with the medical team of the national team, unfortunately we concluded that the situation is not good enough for me to play those games. I went through a long training process, but if you haven't trained football for the last nine weeks, it's natural that you're not 100 percent ready. I have to listen to my body, to complete rehabilitation and get back in good shape," Edegor told the website of the Norwegian Football Association, Sky reported.
The doctor of the Norwegian national team, Ola Sand, said that Edegor had a complicated ankle injury and that he needs more time to be fully ready.
"I was hoping that I would be able to play for the national team, and if I hadn't played on Sunday, it would certainly have been out of the question to play for Norway. Missing these games is a very bad feeling, I love playing for Norway with this team," he said. Edegor.
Arsenal will play their next game in the Premier League at home on November 23 against Nottingham Forest.
