The England football team defeated the Republic of Ireland 5:0 tonight at Wembley in London, in the match of the fifth round of Group 2 in the League of Nations B and returned to the most elite League A as the first place in the group.
In the first half, England did not have a single shot on goal, but with five goals in the sequel, they achieved a convincing victory, in the last game on the bench of interim coach Lee Carsley, who will be succeeded by Thomas Tuchel. The first goal was scored by captain Harry Kane in the 53rd minute from the penalty spot, and Anthony Gordon doubled the lead in the 56th minute.
Conor Gallagher was the scorer two minutes later, Jerod Bowen shook the net in the 76th minute, and the final result was set by debutant Taylor Harwood-Bellis in the 79th minute.
Ireland played with ten men from the 51st minute, after Liam Scales received a second yellow card.
England has 15 points and will play again in Nations League A from next season.
The second-placed Greece has the same number of points, which beat Finland 2:0 in Helsinki, but will play in the play-off for placement in the A League of Nations.
Third-placed Republic of Ireland has six points and will play in the play-off for survival in Nations League B, while Finland has no points and has been relegated to League C.
In Nations League B in Group 3, Norway beat Kazakhstan 5:0 in Oslo and qualified for Nations League A as the first place in the group with 13 points.
Austria drew 1:1 against Slovenia in Vienna.
Austria has 11 points and as second place will play in the play-off for placement in League A, while Slovenia as third place with eight points will play in the play-off for survival in League B.
Bottom-placed Kazakhstan have a point and are relegated to Nations League C.
