Another great news for Montenegrin football, and again it comes from the talented generation of 2006.
Marko Perović, the youth representative of Montenegro, made his debut last night in Almeria, a member of the Spanish La Liga 2.
And it wasn't an ordinary debut - in the Andalusian derby against Cordoba, Perović entered the field in the 81st minute, and already in the first contact with the ball caused a commotion in the defensive lines of the opposing team.
He passed brilliantly on the left side, shot - it could have been a memorable debut, but it will also be remembered like this - the goalkeeper made a save, Perović's teammate Leo Baptistao, a former player of Atletico Madrid and Villarreal, ran onto the rebound and put it into the net for 4:0
"SUPER-CLASS FLASHES"
Almeria coach Rubi, who has already led teams in La Liga such as Betis, Espanyol and Levante, was delighted with Perovic:
"We see important potential in this boy. I am very serious. He is still young, but in just eight minutes you saw what kind of left foot he has".
Perović (18), a child of Budućnost, played half a season in Jezera before moving to Almeria this summer.
He started in the B team of Almeria, for which he played nine games in the fourth season of Spanish football (and scored two goals), from the start he knocked on the door of the first team and made his debut on November 26.
"The icing on the cake of the great victory over Córdoba was the debut of the young Montenegrin Perović, who in the 10 minutes coach Rubi gave him to brag, left flashes of superclass," writes the local newspaper "Diario de Almeria".
The media that follow the "Robiblancos", the team that was relegated from La Liga last season, also note that Perović is the first player born in Montenegro to play for Almeria.
"He is not the first under the Montenegrin flag, but Esteban Saveljić was born in Argentina. With Perović, another nationality was added to the history of Almeria - Montenegro," it said.
Perović showed that he adapted fantastically to the new environment and - his first foreign engagement - even after the match, when he made a statement in Spanish.
"I come from a small country and this is an incredible thing for me. I thank the coach for the opportunity," he said.
"Grand debut," says Almeria's official account on the X network.
"ROBI-BLANKOS" EXPRESSLY WANT TO BE IN THE ELITE
Almeria is a young club, founded in 1989, but in its 35 years of existence, it left a big mark and played eight seasons in the Spanish elite.
The best ranking was achieved in the 2007/08 season, when it was eighth in La Liga. Last season, they finished 19th in the standings, and the deciding factor was a 2:0 defeat to Barcelona three rounds before the end.
"Robi-blancos", or red and white, want, however, an express return to the elite, which they announce with great games and results this season, especially in November. Namely, Almeria has tied five victories and is second in the table of the popular Segunda, with nine points less than the leading and undisputed Racing Santander.
The two leading teams go directly to La Liga, and Almeria's competitors for now are Mirandes, Sporting Gijon, Granada, Oviedo, Zaragoza, Elce, and even Levante and Malaga, who have five and six points less than Perović's team.
Four teams play in the playoffs for one place, which also leads in the elite.
