The song of Liverpool fans, who during the derby against Manchester City chanted at Pep Guardiola "you will be fired in the morning" opened a controversy.
The manager of City did not properly accept the provocation of the audience at "Anfield", so at one point he turned to the stands and gestured to show that he had won six English championship titles.
It will turn out that it was just an introduction to Guardiola's "war" with Jose Mourinho, because after the 2:0 defeat to Liverpool, the Catalan mentioned the Portuguese in the context that his great rival throughout his career had a similar conflict with Liverpool fans while he was leading Manchester United.
"After all, maybe I am similar to José. The only difference is that I won six titles and he won three," said Guardiola.
Who thought that Mourinho from faraway Istanbul, where he leads Fenerbahçe relatively successfully, would not answer - he was mistaken.
"I saw that Guardiola mentioned me and compared our trophies. I'll tell you the difference between him and me - I won my three trophies fair and square. I always congratulate the opponent if he is better than me, I don't want to face 150 different accusations," Mourinho pointed out, clearly alluding to the possible punishments facing City due to alleged financial malfeasance.
In England, Mourinho was a three-time champion with Chelsea (2005, 2006 and 2015), he also worked on the island at United and Tottenham.
Guardiola was happy with City for the last four seasons, as well as in 2018 and 2019. More precisely, he was not a champion only in the first year on the "citizen's" bench (then he was happy with Chelsea with Antonio Conte) and in 2020, when the champion was Liverpool.
