Fiorentina's Edoardo Bove said today that he is feeling well and that the support he has received from fans and teammates has helped him recover after being placed in a medically induced coma.
Bove collapsed on the pitch during an Italian Serie A match against Inter Milan on 1 December.
"In moments like these, I realize how real this sport is, and how we are all, apart from results, competition and rivalry, connected. Connected by a bond, which once created, after challenging times becomes almost unbreakable," Bove wrote on his Instagram account.
Bove was released from the hospital on Friday, and if he has to have a defibrillator implanted, he will not be able to continue playing in Italy, as playing with a defibrillator is prohibited in that country.
"The support I received, the warmth of the fans, the support of teammates and opponents and the closeness of the entire football world gave me incredible strength and courage. I am surrounded by positive energy, which helps me stay calm and not feel the loneliness that often comes in these situations." he added.
Bove, in case he has to install a defibrillator, could, like Christian Eriksen, continue his career in the English Premier League.
He plays for Fiorentina as a loan player from Roma.
