Sad news from Magdeburg went around the world tonight when a car driver drove into a crowd of people at a Christmas bazaar in the eastern German city.
According to some media, at least 11 people were killed, others state that the death of only one person is currently confirmed, while from 60 to 80 are injured.
Bild wrote that in these moments sport is not important at all and emphasized that the tragedy sent the football match "Cvajta" and the great victory of Magdeburg away to Fortuna in Dusseldorf (5:2) to the background.
"During the match, the terrifying news spread through the stands, the fans of both teams immediately stopped cheering. The atmosphere in Dusseldorf's 'Merkur Spiel-Arena' became almost eerie," added Bild.
The stadium with 35.000 people is in a state of shock, adds the local portal "Magdeburg-fussball".
"After Magdeburg's victory, there was an agonizing silence," wrote the aforementioned portal.

At the end of the match, a notification about the attack in Magdeburg appeared on the big screen at the stadium, after which the players on the field began to understand what it was all about.
