The former coach of the England football team, Gareth Southgate, received the title of British knight, according to the New Year's list of honorees.
Southgate (54) left the national team in July, after the defeat to Spain in the final of the European Championship.
In eight years, he led England to two consecutive finals of the European Championship and to the semi-finals of the World Cup in 2018, in 102 games.
Southgate is the fourth England coach to be knighted, following Sir Walter Winterbottom, Sir Alf Ramsey and Sir Bobby Robson, the BBC reported.
British 800m Olympic champion Keely Hodgkinson was awarded the Order of the British Empire (MBE).
The awards, which have been given out by British monarchs since the Middle Ages as part of knighthoods, are vetted by a Cabinet committee before the list is forwarded to the Prime Minister and King Charles III.
