He was one of the key men in Brighton becoming a serious member of the Premier League, and after a day at Chelsea he will want to forget, Graham Potter is back on the big stage.
The expert from Solihull is officially the new coach of West Ham - Potter took over the team from the Olympic Stadium after Đulen Lopetegi was fired.
Potter is thus returning to the Premier League after almost two years, after he was fired in April 2023 after only thirty games on the Chelsea bench - this time he replaced west London with his east.
"I'm very happy to be here. It was important for me to wait for the job that I feel is right for me, as well as that I'm an equally good option for the club I'm coming to. That's the feeling I have with West Ham," said Potter.
He signed a contract with the club from London for two and a half years, and he will lead his new team for the first time on Friday, in the match of the third round of the FA Cup against Aston Villa, according to the club's website.
"My discussions with the president and the board of directors of the club have been very positive and constructive. We share the same values of hard work and high energy to create a foundation that can create success, we are on the same wavelength regarding what is needed in the short term and how we want to we run the club for the long term," said Potter.
He emphasized that West Ham is a huge club.
"Situated in the heart of London, with great fans and great support around the world. I saw the scenes after they won the Conference League in 2023, and it was obvious that this is a club that has everything to be consistently successful, both on the pitch and out of it," Potter added.
In addition to Brighton and Chelsea, Potter also managed Swansea and the Swedish Estersund.
After 20 games played in the Premier League, West Ham ranks 14th in the table with 23 points.
