The new coach of Everton, David Moyes, said that he believes that the club can stay in the Premier League and that he is aware that he has to improve the results and the game as soon as possible.
Moyes worked at Everton from 2002 to 2013, when he took over from Manchester United, and has now returned to the club from Goodison, who sacked manager Sean Dyche last week due to poor results, with the side 17th in the table and a point above the zone falling out.
Despite the poor results, the 61-year-old manager said he is confident the club can avoid relegation with a style of play focused on winning and aims to get Everton back to where he led them in 11 years in his first term.
"Everton is different. A few Sundays ago I didn't think there were any chances for Everton to fight for survival. I'm not kidding, we need all of them, players to play better, to score more goals. I believe we have a team of players, a few Sundays ago , I didn't see any difficulty. We have a lot of work to do in order to progress in the standings," Mojes said at the press conference, reported Skaj.
"I hope we are ready to be the best we can be. They (the new owners of the Friedkin Group) want to get us back on track and we all know we need a bit of plaster and we have to try to make it happen," added the former West Ham manager , Sunderland and Real Sociedad.
Moyes has signed a two-year contract with Everton and is aware that he has to improve his results and performance in the short term.
"I'm not back at the same Everton, but I don't think Everton are getting the same David Moyes either. I hope I'm more experienced, but also wiser. I have more than 1.000 games as a manager, but Everton gave me my first chance in the Premier League. I will always "I'll be grateful that I got another chance. I'll try to win as many games as possible, and then I'll start thinking about my style of play. I want to show that I can, I have to try to prove myself." he.
Everton have scored just 15 goals in 19 league games and have failed to score in eight of their last 10 games. Moyes hopes that striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin, who scored the last two goals in September, could help the team.
"We will give him as much confidence as possible, but it is also necessary for the player to do his part. I told him that I need goals from him immediately and he has to start scoring them. And we may have to strengthen the team in those segments if we don't ourselves we will be able to achieve results," said Moyes.
During his first tenure at Everton, Moyes led the team to the top eight at the end of the season in the Premier League nine times, finishing fourth in the 2004/2005 season.
With Everton, he reached the final of the FA Cup in 2009, and in 11 years he qualified for European competitions four times.
