The stadium under Gorica will soon receive a modern hybrid surface (a combination of natural and artificial grass), which could permanently solve a major problem with the City Stadium's pitch.
This was announced by the new mayor of Podgorica, Saša Mujović, pointing out that the renovation of the field will begin soon.
The Montenegrin national team was unable to play in the Nations League in the fall at the stadium under Gorica due to the devastating condition of the turf, and Buducnost did not receive UEFA permission this summer for the 2nd round of qualifiers for the Conference League.
Mujović spoke today with representatives of the Football Association of Montenegro, FK Budućnost, as well as people from the Public Company "Sports Facilities".
"The new city administration has committed itself to 'attack' Podgorica's pressing problems as soon as possible, which is what we are doing. One of the problems is the stadium under Gorica. We had a meeting with representatives of FK Budućnost and the Football Association of Montenegro. One of the conclusions we came to is to start renovating the stadium's grass surface, where a hybrid surface will be installed instead of the current natural one. The work will begin as soon as weather conditions allow," said Mujović.
As he stated, the plan is to reconstruct two more stadiums in Podgorica.
"In discussions with representatives of the Football Association, we sought a way to put the Zabjela and Crvene stijene stadiums into operation. Therefore, we expect that in those parts of the city we will also have improved infrastructure that will enable children to play football and be more interested in sports in general," said Saša Mujović.
Hybrid grass will soon be installed at the Mornar stadium in Bar, where work has already begun, and it has been announced that the new stadium in Cetinje will also have a hybrid surface.
