German national football team coach Julian Nagelsmann today extended his contract with the Football Association until the end of the 2028 European Championship.
Nagelsmann had a contract until the end of the World Cup, which will be held in the USA, Canada and Mexico next year.
"All of us, the fans, the team and the coaching staff, have created something that I now want to develop successfully together. We want to win titles together," Nagelsmann said, according to a statement from the German Football Association.
The former Bayern Munich coach took over the German national team in September 2023 and it was stated at the time that he would only lead the team at the European Championship in Germany last summer, but the cooperation was soon extended.
"When I arrived in September 2023, I could not have imagined that I would be the coach after the European Championship," added the 37-year-old coach.
He reached the quarterfinals of the European Championship with Germany, in which the team lost 1:2 after extra time to Spain, who later won the title.
