The Spanish Football Federation today extended the contract with the men's national team coach Luis de la Fuente for another two years, until the end of the 2028 European Championship.
"De la Fuente will lead the men's national team until the end of the 2028 European Championship, which will be held in the United Kingdom and Ireland," the Federation said in a statement.
De la Fuente's old contract expired in 2026, after the conclusion of the World Cup in the USA, Mexico and Canada.
He took over the national team from Luis Enrique in December 2022, after Spain's elimination in the round of XNUMX of the World Cup in Qatar.
He previously led the Spanish youth national team and the Olympic team, with which he won silver at the 2021 Tokyo Games.
With the Spanish national team last summer, he won the European Championship in Germany, and the Nations League a year earlier.
